Youth Action International awards 400th scholarship

Youth Action International has crossed a milestone by awarding its 400th scholarship to children living in difficult circumstances. The scholarships, which are granted to young people in Liberia and Sierra Leone who would not otherwise be able to go to school are aimed at ensuring that most talented students do not have to leave school because of lack of financial resources. YAI’s scholarship program also provides special lifetime scholarships for girls, as well as scholarships to visually impaired students in Sierra Leone.
Youth Action International is working to increase the number of scholarships it provides to students. The scholarship program will also extend to YAI’s East African mission in early 2008. At least 100 new scholarships will be awarded to students in those areas.
