cw_vertical.jpgA new reality series featuring world renowned Liberian activist Kimmie Weeks is set to debut in the United States after airing globally in 133 countries and 35 languages around the world.  The series will broadcast in the US on the CW Network.    The new series called “4Real” profiles celebrity adventures around the world to connect with young leaders who, under extreme circumstances, are affecting real change on some of the most pressing issues of our time.Celebrity guests for Season One are Cameron Diaz, Mos Def, Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes, Casey  Affleck, K’NAAN, M.I.A. and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Earlier this year, MTV Canada and Discovery Channel International teamed up to air the reality series in millions of homes around the world.   More than 1.5 million people in Canada tuned in for the shows debut in Canada and millions of others watched on Discovery Channel International.    4Real takes viewers on unique adventures with these celebrities, but ultimately it’s the young leaders who emerge as the stars. 4REAL inspires viewers with stories of their courage, creativity and dedication to tackling issues such as poverty, environment, health, children’s and indigenous rights, drugs and violence in their communities and beyond.

In 4REAL Liberia, host Sol Guy takes international music sensation M.I.A. to post-war Liberia to meet child rights advocate Kimmie Weeks. Weeks is the founder of Youth Action International, an organization that is helping to alleviate the suffering of children affected by war and empowering them to reach their full potential. Among their many projects they are providing educational opportunities, employment and building some of the first playgrounds in post-war Liberia. The adventure goes from a visit with Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, to the front lines of Youth Action International’s projects, to a dance party in a Monrovian neighborhood.

Anna Johnson, Spokesperson for Kimmie Weeks and Youth Action International noted: “this is an incredible opportunity for both Kimmie and his organization.  The exposure will help us raise awareness and support for our work across Africa.”
